Southern Tochigi Soul Food: Filled with Immeasurable Charms

Embark on a Mineral Tour and Try Sano Ramen!

In southern Tochigi, you'll find several sightseeing spots that are heavily associated with local industries and food factories.
Kuzu in Sano City is particularly known for limestone and dolomite mining. This course includes a tour of a company that consistently manufactures, sells, and researches products made from these minerals. For lunch, you'll get to try Sano ramen. This local dish features noodles made with the aotake-uchi method, which involves stretching the noodle dough with a long bamboo tube.
In the afternoon, we will tour the factory that makes Tochigi City's pride and joy: Iwashita New Ginger. Please enjoy the soul food embedded in the area.

Check Point

Get closer to the charms and secrets of a limestone factory, only found here in Kuzu.
When it comes to Sano, it's all about the Sano ramen. The origins of Sano ramen are said to have begun in the Taisho Period, when Chinese chefs passed down the aotake-uchi method in Japan. Over 150 ramen shops, including century-long restaurants, compete against each other in the city with their unique flavors.
A detailed tour through the production process of Iwashita New Ginger, a snack often served at the table or eaten with beer.
