Convention Support Subsidy

We provide support to conventions hosted in Utsunomiya.

Conventions Eligible for Subsidies

Academic Conferences
Conferences, assemblies, seminars, or other events that correspond to this description held to present or discuss academic studies. They are hosted primarily by organizations comprised of students to improve and expand academic studies.
Conventions and Meetings
Assemblies, general meetings, or other events that correspond to this description held by an organization, members of an association, or experts to present and/or discuss their opinions regarding a specific subject and publicize their claims.
Corporate Meetings
Various conferences, workshops, seminars, ceremonies, and other events that correspond to this description held by a corporation for their employees or a corporate group.
Exhibitions and Trade Fairs
Product exhibitions that aim to attract new customers, industrial trade fairs used for business transactions between companies, and other events that correspond to this description held by a group of businesses under the same or related industrial classifications.

Issuance Requirements
  • An event that is longer than two days that requires a considerable number of participants to stay in Utsunomiya
  • Over 50 participants from outside the prefecture and abroad
  • It is within 1/3 of eligible expenses required to host the convention (the limit will be within 1/3 the amount deducted from eligible expenses when combined with subsidies from the national government, prefecture, or Utsunomiya.)

Shuttle Bus Transit Subsidy

Details
This system will subsidize a portion of the expenses required to operate bus services transporting participants between venues.
Issuance Requirements
  • A convention held at two or more venues in Utsunomiya
  • Use of Utsunomiya bus companies
  • An amount within 1/2 of the eligible expenses required for shuttle bus service.
Excursions Subsidy

Details
A system that subsidizes a portion of the expenses required for sightseeing or tours related to culture, society, nature, history, and industries that operate alongside the convention. It must be planned by the organizer, and participants must be well aware of these excursion(s).
Issuance Requirements
  • An excursion that occurs before, after, or during the convention.
  • The excursion must be a visit, tour, or experience of one or more sightseeing attractions in Utsunomiya.
  • An itinerary with a schedule generally longer than half a day
  • Over 30 excursion participants
  • An amount within 1/2 of the eligible expenses required for the hosting of the excursions.
COVID-19 Prevention Measures Subsidy

A system that subsidizes a portion of the expenses required for measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the convention.
Issuance Requirements
  • Events that are enacting COVID-19 measures concerning the hosting of the convention
  • An amount within 1/2 of the expenses required for measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Catering Subsidy

Details
A system that subsidizes a portion of the expenses required for catering and attraction when a social gathering is held with the use of catering that operate alongside the convention.
An attraction must provide food and beverages specified by the Utsunomiya Convention & Visitors Bureau.
Issuance Requirements
  • A social gathering that occurs before, after, or during the convention.
  • An attraction provides food and beverages specified by Utsunomiya Convention & Visitors Bureau.
    (Demonstration of cooking Gyoza・Performance of making cocktail・Offering local sake in a booth)
  • Expenses required for the catering such as cost of food and personnel expenses, and the attraction fees.
  • An amount within 1/2 of the eligible expenses required for the catering and attraction.
  • Even if it’s not applicable to national or international convention, excursions (including day trip) held before or after the convention in other cities are eligible for the subsidy.

  • Projects used for entertainment and commercial purposes (sales distribution, concerts, theatrical performances, sports tournaments, etc.)
  • Projects used for religious or political activity
  • Projects sponsored by the national government or local authorities
  • Projects that have applied twice or more times within the same year
  • Projects involved with someone who is a member of Anti-Social Forces or has intimate relations to Anti-Social Forces
  • Other projects deemed unsuitable by the chairman due to a violation of public order and morality
