The area around Futaarayama Shrine has flourished over the ages from Heian・Kamakura to Edo period, and these days, Utsunomiya is considered as an important city in the Northern Kanto area.
Many citizens come to worship at the shrine on special occasions such as New Year and Shichi-Go-San (an annual Japanese festival to celebrate the growth of children).
Now, most of the festivals held in Utsunomiya are related to the deities of this shrine, and the area around the shrine will be full of vibrancy on the day of the festival.
▶In recent years, international events such as the Japan Cup Cycle Road Race and the FIBA 3×3 World Tour have also been held in the spaces around the torii gate.
▶Also, Music events have been held in Kagura-den.
