Shine Muscat Picking & Root-Zone Restriction Cultivation Workshop
Agreen Park Utsunomiya Budo no Mori (Japan Agriculture Co., Ltd. / Japan Fruits Co., Ltd.)
We grow premium grapes across our spacious 4.6-hectare vineyard in Utsunomiya City. Come and enjoy our "All-You-Can-Eat & All-You-Can-Pick" Shine Muscat experience, and learn about our innovative Root-Zone Restriction Cultivation technique. In addition to Shine Muscat, we grow a total of 12 grape varieties, including Queen Nina (red), Nagano Purple, and Kyoho (black).
Innovation in Agriculture: By implementing root-zone restriction cultivation, we streamline operations such as pruning, thinning, and harvesting, aiming to achieve highly consistent and stable quality control.

What is Root-Zone Restriction Cultivation?
This innovative farming technique involves laying a root-barrier sheet on the ground, piling cultivation soil on top of it, and growing the vines within that contained space.
By limiting the soil volume, farmers can precisely control watering and fertilization, leading to an early and abundant harvest.
In conventional open-field grape cultivation, it typically takes about 4 to 5 years after planting a sapling to achieve a full-scale harvest. However, root-zone restriction cultivation encourages a faster transition from vegetative growth (growing leaves and stems) to reproductive growth (producing fruit). As a result, it becomes possible to harvest grapes from the very second year.
